Bio:

The ‘T’ is silent!

Hextor (pronounced Hexor) is a man on a mission. He is an ascetic warrior, the only joy he takes being the journey to perfect the art of combat. He isn’t particularly strong, fast or smart but he chooses the path he walks willingly, without regrets or doubts. He speaks rarely and to the point.

Neither good nor evil, Hextor has no compunctions about where he fights or who he fights for or even if he is paid. Hextor’s main motivation is the worthiness of the challenge. Despite his almost mercenary nature, Hextor follows a strict code.

  1. In conflict, if combat is an option, choose combat
  2. Never fight the innocent or the weak
  3. No form of fighting is taboo
  4. Never turn down a challenge unless it is obvious suicide
  5. Show mercy only when doing so presents the possibility of a greater challenge
  6. Never stop testing your skills
  7. Forgo all luxuries – they distract you from bettering yourself
  8. There is no shame in defeat, for that too is a lesson

Hextor came into this code and way of life since he was found by a nomadic tribe of warrior monks. Before that, he had been a wandering mercenary without a purpose, unfulfilled and aimless. He used battle as a way to seek his own death, having lost faith in living. However, the monks showed him another way, a way to focus his mind and soul onto the perfection of himself. He trained with them for years, throwing away everything about his old life to give himself fully to the goal of perfecting the art of combat.

Then one day, several years later, he awoke to find that the monks had gone, they had left him behind and disappeared. All that was left was a note, saying:

Hextor, ahead of you is a long journey but you show much promise. You must return to the world you left behind, for only by conquering your old life will you finally be able to achieve that which you seek. When you have reached your goal, you will know how to find us again.

With that, Hextor rejoined society, adventuring with whomever he thought could provide him with the most challenges and tests of skill.
